I am not a religious person. I am also of the opinion that the vast majority of self-proclaimed religious people are nothing more than your garden variety hypocrite. They attend church every Sunday, Easter and Christmas therefore assuring themselves a first-class ticket straight to heaven. Most of these people are relatively harmless and can be ignored. However, there are others of the more fanatical ilk who cannot be. These are your fanatics. The ones who believe that their God is the only God and what He says goes and anyone not partaking of the Holy Koolaide is going to Hell. This brings me to a statement Mike Huckabee made to an audience in Michigan:

“I have opponents in this race who do not want to change the Constitution,” Huckabee told a Michigan audience on Monday. “But I believe it’s a lot easier to change the Constitution than it would be to change the word of the living god. And that’s what we need to do — to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards so it lines up with some contemporary view.”

Okay, God’s standards meaning what exactly? I will have to speculate that he was referring to the mile long list of “Thou Shalts & Shalt Nots” that can be found in the bible. There are no fewer than 613 Laws in the Old Testament. The first question I had after reading Huckabee’s latest nugget of delusion was, “Whose interpretation of these laws are we to follow?” If you put 10 people in a room with a copy of the King James you are going to get 10 different opinions. Then the flood gates opened and a torrent of questions flew from my mind: Which of these laws or standards are we going to make amendments for? All of them? Some of them? Who gets to decide? Can this deranged man actually win the Presidency? I was starting to get a bit creeped out.

Should Mike Huckabee be given the keys to the White House, he may simply pronounce himself as ‘The Decider’ (Bush did) and go on his merry way of destroying our constitution. Creating all of those amendments won’t be as daunting a task compared to the task of enforcing them. Although, since the penalty for any transgressions is death, our prisons will get emptied out and the problem of overpopulation will become a thing of the past. But then there won’t be very many people left to actually run the country. In fact, I can’t think of a single person over the age of two who wouldn’t be hauled off to the gallows. Could be a problem.

So, is Mike Huckabee a lunatic? Quite possibly. I guess we are better off keeping the constitution the way it is. Godless.
