Last season in Belgium, Giancarlo Fisichella managed to get Force India’s first ever pole position. He continued on to finish the race in second position. Adrian Sutil went on to Italy to secure second on the grid and finish the race in fourth. It had appeared that Force India may have finally found some momentum. However, with Massa’s injury, Giancarlo Fisichella left Force India to pursue his dream of driving for Ferrari.
