WordPress 2.7 – Image Uploader Problem
After uploading an image using the Image Uploader, the radio buttons for the different picture sizes were grayed out and unselectable. The only option available was full size. The other issue that I noticed was that there were also no sizes displaying beneath the radio buttons and the full size was appearing as 0×0.
The WordPress Forums are full of questions with people having various problems with the new Image Uploader. They range from permissions, missing files and Flash 10 incompatibility. None of which solved my problem.
I was finally able to solve this issue by disabling all of the plug-ins. After disabling all of the plug-ins I uploaded an image and the radio buttons were working perfectly. I reactivated my plug-ins one by one rechecking that the Image Uploader was working after each plug-in was reactivated. By this process of elimination I was able to find my culprit; podPress 8.8 by Dan Kuykendall. Since I am not even using this particular plug-in, I just left it deactivated.
This issue was making me absolutely crazy, so I hope this helps anyone else out.
Thornton Township High School
One night out of sheer curiosity I hooked myself up with a log-in to Classmate.com. I know, it’s a complete bunch of rubbish. Not to mention it’s an e-mail spam nightmare. A word of caution, should you ever want to create a log-in to this site get a separate G-mail account first. That way you can ignore all of the crap they send you regarding how many people have visited your profile and left comments. The scam is that in order to actually view these supposed visitors you have to upgrade your account and actually pay for it. Stupid. Every so often, I go and check out what’s new at the site and I actually found something interesting on my last visit. An aerial photograph of my high school:

Snow Shoeing the Yard
Last year I took some pictures of the yard after I had gone out and done some snow shoeing. I had meant to stitch them together and make one panoramic photo, but I forgot. I was on the Stephen King Forum and there had been a discussion started on walking and snow shoeing came up. This made me remember the photos. Here is my attempt at putting them together. It’s not perfect, but I think you can get the idea. The black line is the path I had taken. I was standing on a plowed mountain of snow when I took these pictures. The house is to the left in the photo and you can just see a small corner of the roof above a bird feeder.

The trail changes throughout the winter as each storm pretty much wipes out my previous trail. I’m still waiting for enough snow to fall to crack out my snowshoes this season.
Just After Sunset ~ Stephen King
This is Stephen King’s new collection of short stories. Some have been published before in magazines and others are being published for the first time. Each of the stories was quite different from each other and there were a couple that I wished were novels instead of short stories. That’s one of the problems I have with reading King’s short stories. He is such a good story teller that you don’t want the story to end. A couple of favorites from the collection are “Willa” and “N”. None of the stories are super twisted or gory and at the risk of sounding like an advert, this would be a good book to read on these long, cold, winter nights that are upon us.
Snow Crash ~ Neal Stephenson
Finally finished this one. Actually, I finished it a while ago. That’s not to say that it was a bad book. I just wasn’t completely in the mood for it and there were some parts that were a bit slow. I did like the premise and, considering when the book was written, the techie stuff was fun to read. What I can’t believe is that no one has made a movie from it yet. There are some scenes in the book hat would translate very well to the silver screen. One of the characters has a wicked skateboard that I would like to see in action. Of course, Hollywood is too busy remaking movies that have already been remade to be bothered with anything original.
