The “Silly Season” Has Begun
Last night was the Democratic debate in Texas between Senators Obama and Clinton. It started off as an amicable discussion between the two candidates; each talking about the issues that are so very important. Then, after about 45 minutes, things took a turn into the realm of “Attack Politics”. The question came up in regards to the recent accusations by the Clinton camp that Obama had plagiarized entire passages of one of his speeches. The quote from last night’s debate made by Senator Clinton, “Change you can Xerox”, was met by well deserved boos from the audience. This country is in serious crisis; a war that is bleeding the country dry, an economy that is in the toilet, debt that we cannot even fathom and Hillary Clinton yelling plagiarism.
What exactly is all of this plagiarism brew-ha-ha anyway?

Duma Key: A Novel by, Stephen King
What makes King such an amazing author? His ability to describe the human emotion and his amazing ability to develop characters that practically leap off of the pages. Once he has you emotionally embedded into the story, once you are completely locked in; well, that’s when the shit starts to hit the fan. This novel is classic King. That’s about all I can say – no spoilers, sorry. It just so happens that Stephen King wrote a short story entitled Memory, published by Tin House, that later evolved into Duma Key. If you need a little teaser to get you interested, then download Memory by Stephen King in a pdf version.

Fun In the Snow
One of Kenny’s buddies crashed his sled and broke the throttle cable. After bringing it out to phrog’s and doing some Monster Shed magic, the cable was fixed and ready for action. We all headed up to Lock’s for some sled-neckin’. Lock’s place has a road that leads up to a large pasture. He does not maintain this road in the winter as it is pretty steep and his tractor can’t make it up. The banks along Lock’s driveway are approximately 3-4 feet high, so we dug a slight ramp for Kenny to go up on. Here’s the results of his first attempt:

On the Road to the White House
Another round of votes occurred over the weekend: Washington, Nebraska, Louisiana, US Virgin Islands and Maine. All going to Obama. I am starting to actually feel that there may be some hope in our future. Folks in Washington D.C., Virginia and Maryland get out the vote tomorrow. Pollsters are giving Obama another huge win. We all know to take everything they say with a grain of salt, so I will wait to read the results on Politico. My fingers are crossed, however. Meanwhile the Clinton camp has had a bit of a staff change. Hillary has appointed her long-time assistant to the position of campaign manager. This little shake-up follows the heels of reports that Clinton campaign funds are coming up short. Of course, all of this is being downplayed by the Clinton Camp – no surprise there.
Have you noticed how no two news agencies seem to be reporting the same delegate count? It’s an incredibly confusing state of affairs, but the New York Times has made a fairly good attempt at explaining things. It appears that trying to tabulate delegate totals is a lesson in futility right now.

The Hug Heard Around the World
It appears that with the recent spanking McCain gave Romney and that Baptist religious freak after winning 21 states in Super Tuesday, that he is now the republican candidate for president. Now he has Bush’s support. Why would anyone be so delighted to have Bush’s endorsement anyway? Recent polls show his approval rating at 30%. Can an endorsement be turned down? I think it would have been a monumental moment in history if McCain would have stood up next to Bush and said, “Thanks, but no thanks.” And then walked off the stage. Instead, he chose to be a kiss-ass. Was this bear-hug necessary? Take a good look at the photo. McCain has such a dreamy expression on his face.
Do the republicans really want to elect someone who worships this man:
