The Day Before Thanksgiving
Ever since that first snowfall at the beginning of the month we have been experiencing amazingly beautiful weather. Blue skies, sunshine and temperatures in the fifties. Although I happen to be enjoying this weather immensely, the skiers are not too thrilled. Ski Corp has announced that it won’t be opening the mountain until the end of the month. This announcement has gone over like a fart in church with all sorts of nasty comments being hurled towards the new owners, Intrawest. I’m no expert, but I don’t think snow can be made at temperatures in the fifties.
The snow will come as it always does and it has. Ten inches of lovely, heavy, wet snow has fallen overnight. Looks like it’s going to be a white Thanksgiving after all Charlie Brown.
A New Addition to the Family
Before any of you get the silly idea into your head that there’s a baby on the way – the new addition I am referring to has four legs and a tail. She’s a one-year old Pit-Bull with the unfortunate name of Yampa. Her former owner just didn’t have the time to really take care of her and she spent most of her time attached to a chain in a trailer park. She also didn’t get much training and is kind of a wild little thing. Whenever you bring a new pet into the house the unknowns begin to make themselves known rather quickly. The lack of training was something we were aware of. We had doggy sat her a few times and knew she needed some discipline. The separation anxiety, on the other hand, was an issue we learned the hard way. We left her home alone on her first night with us to go to a friend’s for dinner. By the time we arrived back home Yampa had found Dave’s Doc Marten boots.

The Snows of Winter
The weather men keep trying to tell us that we are going to have a big winter this season. Something to do with La Niña. Well, judging by what fell last night – they could be right.
